Thank you for affording me the opportunity for an additional response. Our representative was Don Wagner. In the past, I have been apprehensive to visit a car dealership since my experience has been pressure from the salesmen. This time, the experience was outstanding. I was allowed to inspect some of the vehicles prior to being approached by Don. Almost immediately Don seemed like my younger brother. There was no pressure put on me to buy the car. Most importantly, rather than pressuring me to make a choice, after appropriately viewing several models on my own, Don approached me and rather than trying to sell me a car, he asked my opinion as to what I was looking for in a car. His approach to letting ME make the decision was impressive. After I described in detail the reasons for my choice, he THEN directed me to several choices of vehicles. With no pressure, once I had decided the choice of vehicle, he suggested I drive the car to get a better on hands feeling for the particular vehicle.
With no pressure, he directed me through the process that ended with my purchase of the vehicle.
Incidentally I never thought I would have the option to lease a car since my mileage requirements were @ 20,000 miles/ year. Surprisingly he said there was an option with 20,000 miles available for 36 months and the terms were reasonable. That sealed the sale!
I'm not aware of VW's desire to lease cars with this mileage option, but from a consumer's point of view, this was VERY attractive and I think this would open an additional marketing opportunity for VW to exploit.
In closing I want to be sure that this memo gets into the personal files of Don Wagner and VW is very fortunate to have such a dedicated employee with great interpersonal skills.
Sincerely,
Richard M.
